This is whats weird about growing up in West Virginia. The state has a few towns, Parkersburg, Morgantown, Wheeling, and Charleston, that are filled with regular all American people. Nary an accent, they’re hardworking and following the American dream type people. Lord knows how many times Ive gone somewhere and said I was from the 304 and people gave me a “What? Where’s your hillybilly accent? No, youre too normal to be from Western Virginia” In which I reply “WEST Virginia, it’s a state, dickhead”.
However the whole issue with defending my home state is stories like this. Outside of those “safe towns” West Virginia is a crazy, rural, lawless place. Go 15 miles outside of a larger town and you’ll find things such as little Walker Texas Ranger here coming at his grandmother like a spider monkey. I swear rural West Virginia leads the nation in 5 year olds kicking the shit out of adults, and diabetes. Probably also leads the nation in 5 year olds that have diabetes that kick the shit out of adults. I haven’t seen the official count on that one yet.
One large problem I have with this story is that the mother of this brawler got arrested because she didn’t help control the kid. Uhh officers, did you not read the story? The kid was beating down folks with canes and busting through doors like Kool Aid. Im not jumping into that fray, and besides this is between Dakota and Grandma, gotta let them work it out. Lets be honest here, I wouldn’t miss lap 57 at Watkins Glen to stop my kid from beating someone down either, and certainly not when Dale Jr is in the mix. I have a hard time faulting the mother.
Thing is Grandma probably deserved it. I bet she stole one of his Silly Bandz or said something like “Hey Dakota, I bet you cant take my cane from me and beat me with it.” Yeah she was probably asking for it.
PS- I feel like the pissing on her at the end was really more of a message to his other Grandparents. Don’t fuck with me assholes.
