1995-1997
14.1 career scoring average
1,168 points in only 3 years.

Why he’s here: Seldon might not be one of the more memorable players in WVU history, but he was the first legitimite scoring threat we had in the Big East. Seldon had a deep offensive arsenal and during our first few years of Big East play he bailed us out of many possible blowouts. A prime example of how good Seldon was? Look no further than the first ever Big East game for WVU in 1996, an overtime loss to then #6 Georgetown. Seldon scored 26 and matched the Georgetown guard shot for shot, eventally outscoring him 26-22. That opposing Georgetown guard? Allen Iverson. (He outscored Ray Allen in a game later that season too)

#14 – Tyrone Sally
#15 – Frank Young

So this video below was floating around some of the websites the last few days that I check out on a daily basis. I am pretty sure I am missing all the rage with this video. Is it just because there is a mysteriously maybe cute girl doing it because I am pretty sure ol’ Billy Hoyle can do this shit too. I used to Hula Hoop my ass off to impress all the skirts in my neighborhood. Just working my hips like a young Elvis making panties drop. I mean she isn’t that good is she? Let me know what you think. Vote 1 for she sucks, I will send you my own video that is just as good … or Vote 10 for she Hula Hooped a bulge into your pants.

P.S. – Do people have “Talents” at WVU? If so record it post it on Youtube and send us the link so we can post it on the site and let the CFS groupies decide. billyhoyle@couchfiresports.com or number3@couchfiresports.com

YAHOOMayweather (42-0, 26 KOs), as can usually be expected of the controversial pugilist, caused the biggest stir of the afternoon when it was his turn to take the podium.

“Floyd Mayweather is not a cheater like Antonio Margarito or Manny Pacquiao,” Mayweather told the pro-Cotto crowd to a chorus of supportive applause. “Hard work…Hard work…Hard work…it’ll be a toe to toe battle May 5th.”

There goes Floyd calling out Manny Pacquiao again. This may be worse than fans in the stands who shout at athletes knowing that they can’t do anything about it. There can’t be one single person left on Earth who doesn’t think these guys are afraid to fight each other. I hate Floyd Mayweather but this isn’t just about him, Manny doesn’t want to fight him either. They should have to start calling themselves entertainers and not fighters like the guys in the WWF or WWE or whatever it is now. When the two best fighters in the world “want to fight” and every fan of boxing in the world wants to see it then what is stopping them, oh yeah fear. So how about you two stick to doing press conferences about the guys you are actually fighting because you have some confidence that you can win that one. Because I don’t think that I am the only boxing fan out there that is completely tired of you pretending you have the guts to fight each other.

PS – If you are thinking to yourself that I sound like one of those fans who will talk bad about these guys but if I saw them in person I wouldn’t say a word then you are absolutely right.

PS2 – This will be the last time I write about Pacquiao because I am tired of having to look up how to spell his name every single time.

It was obvious a lot of people didn’t want to see Kevin Jones and Truck Bryant head off into the Mountaineer sunset.  There were plenty of no-shows in the contest, and even the people that did show up were less than enthusiastic, like homeslice in the picture above who was reading a GD newspaper while his wife played Angry Birds on her iPhone.

UGH.

Thus, West Virginia’s four-year streak of averaging 10,000 fans per game at the WVU Coliseum was done after Senior Night.

WVU was averaging 9,909 fans per game heading into last night’s game, and needed a crowd of 11,168 to average 10,000 for the season. Last year, the Mountaineers averaged 11,469 one year after a school-record 12,377 attended WVU games during the team’s run to the Final Four.

We had an attendance of 10,255… which was truly not representative of the crowd as I’m fairly certain a HUGE number of no shows were included in that number… and that’s truly a sad, sad representation on a night when one of the greatest, Kevin Jones, was sent off with 22 points and 16 rebounds.

Even Truck decided to play with determination on his way to a 28 point performance that saw him shoot 7 of 13 from the field and 12 of 16 from the line.

Then you had guys like Domo Rutledge who provided a hell of a spark with 8 points and 8 rebounds, giving him a two-game total of 18 total boards… proving he can be a big-guy that’s going to try his hardest to crash the boards and make a difference.

It also didn’t help that DePaul was overly horrific.

Turnovers, errant passes, horrendous shots that didn’t fall and just a general lacking of skills was very indicative of how the night would go.

WVU let the Blue Demons get within striking distance,  but KJ’s attacking of the boards and 50.8% FG shooting ensured that we would survive to before we head down to South Florida to take on J.D. Collins’ little brother and the Bulls.

KJ and Truck scoring 50 of our points…. only fitting on a night in which they were finally honored as seniors and given the respect that they’ve garnered with their career stats….

Yet nobody saw it.

We have the attendance numbers to prove it… and that’s just sad.

Thanks for everything. All of these guys will be remembered for years. Once a Mountaineer, always a Mountaineer. If you were not able to attend last night and celebrate there time at WVU then watch the video and send them a message on Twitter and let them know you appreciate their time in Morgantown.

Pretty bummed they didn’t have video of Brock Burwell the Mountaineer. One of the best ever to represent us. Not only does he look the part perfectly but he is a great person who does a lot of great things, you will be missed greatly dude.

Goodluck to all in the future to whatever path they take.
